Alumni Network at University of Miami School of Law Builds Community

In 1988, David Simon established Twin Capital Management, LLC, in New York City, where he is the Chief Executive Officer, Co-Chief Investment Officer, and Managing Member. In addition to his longtime career as an investment manager, David Simon is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Miami School of Law, where he served as a member of the Law Review.

The University of Miami School of Law maintains a strong connection to its alumni community, offering multiple channels for ongoing engagement. The school’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations provides meaningful volunteer opportunities, such as participation in the Coffee Connectors Network.

The Coffee Connectors Network facilitates practical actions on the part of alumni that can help to jump-start the careers of young professionals. The assistance can be as simple as forwarding a resume or serving as a sounding board over a cup of coffee.

Interested alumni can fill out an online application, specifying whether they would like to engage in jobs and internships, speak with prospective students about the university’s programs, assist with fundraising, or pursue other opportunities to keep alumni connections strong.

Solving Kids' Cancer Celebrates Passage of STAR Act

David Simon serves as the Chief Investment Officer and Managing Member of Twin Capital Management, LLC. Outside of his work, David Simon supports various charities focused on the common good, including Solving Kids' Cancer.

A New York City-based organization, Solving Kids' Cancer supports research into aggressive childhood cancers. Recently, Solving Kids’ Cancer celebrated the passage of the federal STAR (Survivorship, Treatment, Access, and Research) Act, which enables the collection of medical specimens of certain youth cancer patients to better understand how to treat the cancers. Specimen collection will be overseen by the National Institutes of Health.

The STAR Act also provides funding for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to award grants for the purpose of tracking childhood cancers and treatments. Hailing the bill’s passage as the result of a cooperative effort that required years of planning and patience, Solving Kids’ Cancer recognized other groups for their successful lobbying efforts, including the Coalition Against Childhood Cancer and the Alliance for Childhood Cancer.
