David Simon serves as Managing Member and Co-Chief investment officer of Twin Capital Management, LLC, a New York City-based alternative asset management firm he founded in 1988. Outside of his responsibilities at Twin Capital, David Simon has provided support for charitable organizations such as HELP USA.
Established in 1986, HELP USA provides housing and homeless services for families on a national basis. It ensures that every person is sheltered in a safe and stable house. Since its inception, HELP USA has deployed over 50 different programs across five states.
One of the programs established by the organization is Genesis Homes, a housing project in Brooklyn in New York City. From its launch in 1992, Genesis Homes has successfully provided stable housing for 150 families. Half of these apartments have been given to families formerly without homes while the other half are rented out to families with low-income backgrounds at an affordable price.
More than just providing shelter to those who need it, the program also offers a wide range of services that are oriented towards the needs of the tenants and the broader community as well. These services include medical services, computer training, youth support groups, on-site GED classes, and tenant advocacy programs.
